Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Group Leader-Custom directs the activities of the fabrication, assembly, and welding in a proficient manner that ensures the correct quality and quantity of work.

This position is for Group Leader of several of Lakeside's modifiable and custom product lines. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience leading manufacturing operations, preferably in a custom product department or 5 years' experience as an engineer with product development work.  Experience in manufacturing can be offset by experience in leadership positions in a fast paced, results oriented environment.  A bachelor's degree is required.       

           

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Meet the requirements of the Lakeside Vision Statement and Guiding Principles.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes harmonious relationships among customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Develop, interpret and ensure the consistent application of organizational policies.
  • Assign production team members to appropriate work areas/planners to meet or exceed sales order schedules.
  • Coordinate assignments within work areas/planners to ensure appropriate cross training.
  • Maintain the highest quality standards of all product and processes.
  • Direct team members in the pursuit of Continuous Improvement in Process, Tools, Equipment, Layout, Fixturing, Process Audit, Lead-Time Reduction etc.
  • Maintain safe work environment by managing adherence to company safety policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices. Conduct interviews of employment applicants.
  • In concert with the Director of Manufacturing and Human Resources Manager, evaluates skill level of team members and coordinates promotions and transfers.
  • Ensures adherence to labor contract provisions.
  • Confer with other departments, including, but not limited to: Purchasing, Accounting, Sales, Engineering, Informational Technology, Human Resources, etc. achieve cross-functional business goals.
